Hunnert Car Pileup 2009
Well, after a very long day in Morris, Ill, I made it back to find that there was quite a problem at the HCP on Saturday. Three of us left Muncie at about 5:00 am and headed west to pick up the fourth of our party on the other side of Indy. We arrived in Morris at about 8:30 and headed for the Grundy County Fairgrounds. We didn't have any problems getting in. We looked at some of the cars lined up to enter the fairgrounds. Once we were in the grounds we watched as the cars entered and were parked by the "Red Shirt Brigade" (volunteers to help with the event). They had four lines of cars entering the grounds with inspectors turning away those that didn't meet the rules. It was pretty chilly and muddy almost everywhere due to the rains the past week. One of the first things on the agenda was to get a HCP t-shirt for Madonna since she had to stay home to study. I was concerned that they might run out early so that was the first thing to handle. When I was in the line that was laid out like a maize the way they do the lines at Disney World, one fellow told me that last year they had a riot over t-shirts as they started to run out. They did run out of shirts by around noon. At that time there was more trouble that we were unaware of. The traffic had got backed up for miles around. There was almost grid lock, the nearby interstate was backed up for close to five miles. It was said that some guys spent as much as three hours in line to get there. That's when the State Police decided to close the show and start turning people away. Some had driven for hours on end only to be truned away and go home empty handed. Insde, I thought there were quite a few people but had no idea this was all happening until I got home and read about it on the Net. There was still some room for cars but I guess they couldn't get in.
There were some pretty neat cars there, some that were familiar that I had seen through the summer, but there were quite a few trash cars that were there also. A "Rat Rod" is one thing but there were many that were just trash and didn't look safe by and standard. I think they turned some away that in my opinon should have been let in and conversly they let in some that I don't think should have been there. I don't believe that rust and no hubcaps makes a traditional rod. With that all said, did I have fun? Yes Would I go back? I think so, but it would have to be with a bunch of people so the trip was a good part of the fun. Did I get cold? Yes, my feet were frozen by the time the day was done. It was cold and the wind and clouds made it really cold. The ground was wet and muddy to compound the situation. Did I make it to the HAMB meet and greet? No. Did I see anybody I knew? Yes; Ron, Joe, Melinda, Taz, and Chile Dog. No Prokchop or Blue Eyed Devil!

At least you didn't post the pictures of you and me that day.
You never told me that you made it to the President of the club either. That is all I need a man with money and power!!! Don't tell Hairy Mary I said anything to you either. You like to see us cat fight I think.
