1987 Olds Cutlass

Post by JRiggs on August 17th 2008, 4:00 am

As a child I grew living with my dad and step mom. I saw my real mom every other weekend. She had a friend Richard Fields aka Buckethead. He was a black gentleman and old enough to be my father. I was 7 when i first met him. My mother and I hid him for 11 yrs. He was my best friend. All that time he had a sweet cutlass. In 1998 he came to me and he was going to give me the car. Now how was i going to explain to my dad that a black gentleman was going to give me a car. Well that didnt go over to well. So it was bought for me as a graduation present. So i took it over. Had the windows tinted. There was about four of us that ran around with a cutlass. 3 of us decided that we would put stickers on the back window it said TRU PLAYER. what the hell was i thinking?? So i had a few different chicks chasing me and one of them took a key and keyed the car from taillight to headlight. Man what a scratch. so i started to do body work also at that time I was deep into lowrider magazines. so i went to cool cars in louisville and picked up some 13x7 crown wire wheels. boy what another mistake. then a friend of mine and myself decided to lower the car. we heated the springs. dam what another mistake. So now the car is in primer sitten on 13 x 7 and was so low i couldnt go over speed bumps. and i lived in a trailer park with speed bumps. lol.... Well after constant wheel bearings going out i decided to take those wheels off and put my rallies back on. The motor blew and it sat. The car had so much centamental value it was unreal. I got an 84 when the motor blew up in the 85. Then the car was given away and is probably my new refrigator now. So since then all i keep thinking about it getting another cutty.

that white one is crazy looking not sure if i like it or not...

but this is the one i bought today. its the same color as the 85 i got from my friend richard. the 85 even had the same chrome down the sides.
its sweet.
body has only 103k. the motor alone has about 90k. thats what the owner say..

only thing id like to do to is right now is rims and a good stereo system...
it needs some body work.

Seeing that that is a G body you can do all sorts of stuff to it. Heres one site to check out.http://www.laureneng.com/1244360.html
“That journey to Rouen was a terrible embarrassment to Jesse and me, for on the long straights across France, that great bulbous Oldsmobile coupe with the trailer and racing car on the back sat behind us no matter what we did. We both rowed our little Porsches along as hard as we could, and the Miller entourage just sat there in our mirrors. When we stopped, Ak removed his cigar and asked, ‘Your little cars okay?’”

Best hood Olds ever came out with. Too bad they stole the idea from the Formula Firebird... Very Happy JK Riggs. It would be hard to find one and if you did I'd say the price would be through the roof.

That's not as bad as I thought it would be. I have a formula hood if you want to buy it and mold the scoops to your hood,,

I've seen wonders done with some window caulk, that silver tape that I use on all my projects, and sheet metal screw's... Give it a shot!

A little ounce and a half mat, resin, organic peroxide, PVA poly vinyl alcohol, and some mold release will go a long way...

i cant have a car without having a decent sound system. for the time being i put in a pioneer tape player that ive had 13 years. they wire harness needs to be replaced but the radio has done its duty. so xychowraith stopped bye about a month or so and gave me a panasonic cd player. but it didnt have a wire harness. i bought one on ebay and it got shipped to the house today. this pass weekend i went to richwood flea market and picked up some 3.5 inch speakers. the mounting depth was 1.7 inches. the speaker kept hitting the grille. out came the dremel tool and i cut the speaker grille cover open. i already have my big speakers in the trunk all i need to do now is replace the back deck speakers.
