The rear springs and hardware have been ordered and I need to get the rear end in the garage so I can clean it up,I was going to order front springs but they did not stock them and wanted about 500 dollars to custom make a set so I will rebuild them myself. I wanted to order a set for the rear since they will lower it about 3 inches and I wont have to use lowering blocks.

Maybe we could hook your neighbor's dogs to it and drag it in the snow!

Cole..............where were you last night???????

Jeff was bound and determind to move that rearend last night. We were looking at having to carry the thing about an 1/8 mile in the snow, up hill, in the cold and it was dark out. I figured I would have a stroke and Jeff would end up a cripple so we waited for you to carry it, and we waited and we waited and we waited and we waited............ We damn near froze standing out in the snow and cold waiting so eventually we took a couple of tires and rims, bolted them on the rearend, then pulled it by the emergency cables around to the front of the garage. Was a piece of cake. I guess you can carry the narrow 9" out from the back! LOL

I really didn't expect to see any of you Southern boys up here in the snow. Your blood's too thin.

The rear springs are in and I am waiting for the adjustable perches and shock mounts,I had to put in new bushings in the frame for the shackles which was a little hard to do but I got them in. Friday after work I am going to disassemble the 8 inch for cleaning and making it easier to handle plus remove the perches so i can weld the new ones on. Jeff

Tonight I installed the new bellhousing to install the T-5,the original bellhousing has a smaller bolt pattern so the newer trans wont bolt on. Its a pain to remove the bellhousings on the 62 on back chevy sixes as the flywheel and clutch have to be removed first to get to four of the six bolts holding it on,it had to come apart since the rear main is leaking. I will be picking up the mounting kit and shock mounts friday or saturday so next week I will have a new rear main seal in and get the perches welded in,it looks like a trip to Starks will be next as I got a list of all rear end codes for 64 and 65 fairlanes as I need a 3.00 to 3.50 gears and they have a few of those years of fairlanes. Got the mounting kit with the shock mounts last night and I now have the rear end clamped in,I put the axles back in along with the backing plates and drums to see where the tires sit and it looks better. I have to get a short section of pipe to stick over the axles as I have no center section in at this time,I have to get it sitting on the tires to get the location of the upper shock mount and I would like to do it before I put the gears in the rear as there is more room without them. It looks like I will have to mount the trans before I can set the angle of the rear so next week the motor is going to get a new rear main seal and I have to come up with a clutch disc for the 5 speed,I have to do a couple little modifications to the trans but should only take a couple minutes with a cut off wheel. Rear main seal is in and the oil pan back on,got the correct clutch disc today and might go out and install the clutch after I get off the computer. I still have to clean the trans and do a couple little modifications to it but hope to have it in by the end of the week, ordered the dropped axle and should have it soon. Still have a bunch to do but work is progressing. Jeff
