Re: 47 Chevy Fleetline
I need to invest in some tools. Riggs car kicked my butt today. all I wanted to do is cut a notch out of two 1/4" pieces of steel. we used a drill, jigsaw, hand grinder, a hammer and a air die grinder to make a rough cut. nothing worked good. jigsaw burned it's blade up in one pass. my hand grinder is screwed up and only works for 2 or 3 minutes at a time. the cooling fan broke off and now it over heats. Riggs hand grinder is missing the adapter to use my kind of cut off disk. we managed to get two pieces rough cut and then took them to Riggs bench top grinder to smoth out the work. the motor is bad on it. as soon as you touch it, it stops. man!!! I stopped for the day and Riggs is out looking at tools now. lol I haven't had this much trouble with something like this in years. something simple turned into a side show.

If you don't like my dinged and dented hot rod sitting next to yours, put yours back on it's trailer and leave!
Following pic
i ran to sears and got 4'' cut off wheels.... got a small section of the fender well cut off. then i was cutting a piece of metal and the grinder got away. so after that i said forget it.
silence is golden duct tape is silver
Re: 47 Chevy Fleetline
when the grinder got away it hit my leg. THANK GOD i had on 2 shirts a work jacket, it hit my leg and did a number but at least hit didnt hit 3 inches to the left. then i would be in the hospital. and i didnt need stitches.
Re: 47 Chevy Fleetline
I could have stitched ya up.

Either that or just use some duct tape, then you won't need any stinking stitches!

Re: 47 Chevy Fleetline
we were in the garage last night, tried to get the mounts mounted. but the tranny is hitting the orginial crossmember so i need to trim some more of it off. i plan on jacking the car up and putting jack stands under it, then pull the rear end. while im under that ill trim up the rest of the org. tranny crossmember.
Re: 47 Chevy Fleetline
ive cut all of the org. tranny crossmember out now. been pulling old gas line. started on the brake lines. going to replace everything. started to pull the org. rear end also. man those brake pads look brand new.
Re: 47 Chevy Fleetline

Re: 47 Chevy Fleetline
we cut the torque tube up with a saw.. you would have to convert it to an open driveshaftLRS30 wrote:Whatcha gonna do with the old torque tube rear, there Rigg'sy ole pal?????JRiggs wrote:ive cut all of the org. tranny crossmember out now. been pulling old gas line. started on the brake lines. going to replace everything. started to pull the org. rear end also. man those brake pads look brand new.
