Butch was telling me about a parts car of Craigs List. I looked at the picture and the parts car looked like it had some really nice parts. I talked to the guy and he said I could have the car for 400 bucks. Aryan was tickled to death. The car may have held his seats, valance, bumpers and alot of small stuff he needed. We drove up there and this car was nothing but junk. There was only a few small things we could use. It wasn't a totle waiste. We did buy the center peice of the dash he needed. Just like any old car you just have to keep digging for parts.

He needs the roof bows
Front valence panel
Plastic A pillar trim for the inside if it's not broke.
Shock tower brace
nice rear view mirror
kicker panels
passenger side mirror,
Front bumper if it's not bent. Metal or the rubber one. Very Happy
Back bumper if it's not bent
all the windshield wiper stuff, motor, arms ect ect.
Sun visors and the center visor holder
Steering column(be nice if it was tilt or tilt away) Very Happy
front and back seats. Can be rough as long as the springs are usable for new padding and skins.
Arm rests. L & R
Hood if it's nice.
Gas filler tube that cap goes on.
Trim piece for center of dash if it's not the wood grain one. We bought one but don't like the wood grain.
John if you have any of this stuff take a look at it and let me know what ya have and what you would have to have for it.

The old steering wheel was rough looking and a tad bit too small. I had a new one in stock that I bought off Johnny Stamper for 5 bucks so I gave it to Aryan.

The wheel is just a little bit bigger but I think it will work better and it has to look better.

Aryan bought himself another set of sockets. He had to try them out today.

I like that steering wheel. I'm going to keep the after market shifter for now. Take a look at the stuff and give me a price on it when you get time.

Aryan was wanting to ride shotgun down the track. Mike gave him a match to his racing bucket for the passenger side. We got a seat belt for it today and got it all mounted in the car.
Looking at the other thread it looks like Tri State won't let anyone ride shotgun. So I guess it was a waist of a half day trying to get the seat in and round up seat belts for it. At least he can ride around town now.
I thought someone told me that if you run 14's or slower you could have a rider. Maybe it was just for Edgewater when it was rented out???
I gave Aryan a fire extinguisher for the Stang. It's now mounted between the seats and we fabbed up a home made over flow bottle.
She's almost ready for track day Saturday.

Re: Aryan's 73 Mustang

The Mustang made it through 2 passes without tossing the rods. First run was just to see what the car felt like. Wasn't sure if the rearend was going to fall out or something else fall off like the starter did.
1st run 14.11 with a 2.372 60'
2nd run 13.79 with a 2.139 60'
The rain came in and I couldn't get a 3rd run in. shakedown run I shifted at 6100 and let out of it before getting through the traps. The second run I shifted at 6500 and it went through the traps redlight just on the other side of the 1/4. So it will make it through the 1/4 with the gears it has.

Re: Aryan's 73 Mustang

Take off was not good. I couldn't smoke the hides in the burnout box like I wanted because the line lock is in front of the shifter. I have to reach past the shifter to hit it so I can't shift into 2nd or 3rd unless I let go of the wheel reach way over with my left hand and smack the shifter. I did that once but I'm so stuffed in there and the way the cars set up it's hard to reach over and if the car slides sideways like it did the first time I want my hand on the wheel.
Tonight I'm going to change where the line lock is so I won't have to worry about that next time. That and dropping the preasure down in the slicks should help the 60' times.

Re: Aryan's 73 Mustang

New parts on the way. I ordered a 140 GPH fuel pump and reg/ to replace the cheapie Autozone electric pump. I think it's sucking the line dry by the time i hit 3rd. The car pulls the same in 1st and 2nd but as soon as I hit third it seems like it takes more than twice as long to hit my 6500 shift point.
Also shifting at 6500 is hitting a wall. at 6400 the car stops pulling. You can feel it like you let out of the gas. It has the stock coil on it. I bought an Accel coil and it's on the way too. With the coil and fuel pump I'm hoping it will pull through 3rd like it does in 1st and 2nd. If it still feels like it's hitting the wall at 6400 RPM then I will drop the shift point down to 6300.
I figured a 3rd run would have pulled a 13.50 but I don't think it gets better than that for the day. Playing with the timing, and the new goodies I'm hoping to get a 12.90's pass next week. Never know. We will see
