Corey's Stepside Chevy

Post by Striping Stew 54 on August 2nd 2008, 4:01 am

Dad found a truck that I liked and I decided to fix it up with dads help. It has some ruff parts on it and the good looking parts ended up being worse.
The good looking parts of the truck was full of bondo and was in bad shape after we got a better look. The nice hood had been folded over. The nice fender had big holes mudded over. The one nice door was all patched up and the window regulater was garbage. The window would just fall down in the door when you close it. But all that will be changed.

I can't stand the lights on the cab. To me it looks like a chicken farmers truck. Dad didnt want to take them off but I talked him into it. It took him two days to weld all the holes and do the body work just to the roof. Very Happy It does have a nice bumper and aftermarket grill.

The bed isnt in to bad of shape but will be rippped apart to do the body work on it. Also its much easier to paint the back of the cab with the bed off.

After we got he bed off we found out the back of the cab needed some work.

We did a lot of work today. As of right now the only body part on the truck is the cab. No dog house, no doors and no bed.
Oh yeah It does a really good burn out with the bed off of it. Because of legal reasons I would have to tell you the story in person Laughing

Its law that if you are from Kentuck you must have cab lights on your truck,I cant remember what the punishment is for not obeying that law but I thought it was anyone from north of the river can impound your truck if caught without them. Jeff

Thanks for the offer but I think we have the doors figured out. I've had a set of doors with power windows and locks that I've been holding on to. I think we are going to use them. The doors on the truck now are junk. Thanks anyways bro..
If you don't like my dinged and dented hot rod sitting next to yours, put yours back on it's trailer and leave!

Corey had track at the school so I was left to work on the truck alone today. I put in around 6 hours on her. The rocker and cab corner was a mess on the right side. Fly By Night Inc. must have done the rocker work on the truck. Don't ask me why but there were three(3) different rockers on one side. Slip over cap on the original then another half slipped and bent over the second one. What a mess! The cab corner was not as bad but wasn't up to my standards so it was cut off too.

Here's what I cut off. Looks a lot better in the pics than in person. Smile

Some work had to be done to the inner structure and that took some time but it's done.

Lookin' pretty rough huh? Very Happy
The cab corner was trimmed, pushed and beaten into submission to fit right. Other than where the rocker panel slips inside the cab corner everything is all welded up.

I stripped down a few more things and I called it a day. Hopefully I'll have the rocker done by tomorrow night.

Wow looks pretty good. I'll have to stop down some time and take a look at it.
“That journey to Rouen was a terrible embarrassment to Jesse and me, for on the long straights across France, that great bulbous Oldsmobile coupe with the trailer and racing car on the back sat behind us no matter what we did. We both rowed our little Porsches along as hard as we could, and the Miller entourage just sat there in our mirrors. When we stopped, Ak removed his cigar and asked, ‘Your little cars okay?’”

Today me and dad went up in Ohio to get a new fender for the truck. We are hoping to have the cab sanded and painted by the Newport Car Show, so we can have a lady that does pinstriping and lettering do some work on the doors. I am trying to talk dad into letting me have his street scoop to put on the truck. Very Happy Mr. Riggs said he had a nice seat that he would let me have. We have to measure it to see if it will fit first.
If anyone has two 15x8 and two 15x7 Chevy truck rallys let me know.
You know all through my life I've heard things like "its to hard" and "I cant do it " well I never really understood what "It" is until I really thought about but "it" is you your it your the only thing holding you back.
