Stewart's 49 Plymouth

I got my firewall painted and I'm hoping to get it striped while at the Blacktop Bash. I put a fuse box in (no it didn't have one before), hooked up the inside light so when you open the door the light comes on. The heater is bolted in, all the wires ran and all the duct work is hooked up. I should have the heater hoses hooked up tomorrow and should have heat for the winter. I even put in a new cigarette lighter in favor of the old one that didn't work any longer. Now I can hook up the GPS and drive in Ohio without getting lost.

Damn Steve I'm gonna have to have a big gold chain waitin' for ya at the Bash.

Actually that's really cool. Should make a great driver! I've always had a thing for those postwar Plymouths - My dad's first car was a '47 coupe...

I can't wear the gold chain until I get a nice radio to listen to. It is on it's way. The thought of having a radio in a car that I can hear over the pipes is a great thing. lol. My 36 will take place of my 34. I'll be rattling the windows in Newport come this spring with it.
Benny is there gonna be a good striper that does traditional work at the Bash? The guy that did the 34 was not what I wanted. He's seemed giddy at the chance to lay down some 50's style licks but after he was done I wanted to snap his fingers. He could lay down some lines but not an??Old School look. ( at least I didn't spell it Ol' Skool! LOL

Yes there will be at least 2 or 3 guys there that can take care of your striping needs, all without finger-breaking results. Haha. And I know what you mean - while the striping on your '34 was nice, it seemed more suited to a big rig than a hot rod. Anywho, I will make sure you get introduced to the fellas...

If that plymouth needs a heater I have a factory period correct heater that will work in it,it will have a 6 volt motor but I should have some voltage drops that should work. Jeff

Stewert hit the big time with this one its got a heater cig lighter and even windows that work After he gets some billit on it he will be wearing a gold chain and diamonds and his hands will smell like mother's car polish!!! The Jeffersons's are moving on up to the big time !!!

I've been tinkering with the Plymouth a bit getting it ready for winter driving. A few of us ran up to the Blacktop Bash in Ohio. While we was there I had the firewall striped. It was too cold for stripe work. The striper was struggling to get the cold paint to flow but wasn't having much luck. He did a good job for it to be as cold as it was.


I've also been working on keeping the cold air out and stopping the tin can sound every time you close the door. I've never heard a car with such a dud when you hit a bump. standing next to the car and slamming the door would almost sound like a cannon going off in a near by valley. I've solved most of the noise already.

The window arms and gears was greased up for a smoother action. (wow what a difference)
and then the door were sealed up with the fake Dyanamat stuff. Closing the doors now leaves no a "no boom effect!" I also yanked out the Z34 steering wheel someone had put in. In now sports something better to look at. New tailights are in.

It's more than likely the wrong body style. Mine is same as a 48. I've checked into this and they made some very early 49 with the 48 metal because Chrysler was still in the middle of pushing out parts for the military from the loss of equipment from the war.

I'm playing catch up on the progress pages. I have too many going on at once. lol
We drove down to Carter County for the Rock & Roll Car Show. On the way there the car started making bad sounds. Turned out the drive shaft universal gave up. It sounded really bad but we made the two hour drive home okay.
As much driving as I do I didn't want used tire on the her so I spent some money and bought a new tire/rim combo. It's ride much smoother now.


When I say hot rodding is a family affair it's true.


Aryan has laid claim to the 49 saying it's his. So only fitting that he won a trophy for the old beater.

I was just blown away with Cody. A kid at 12 years old that can lay down stripes with a crowd of people standing over him and snapping pics without it bothering him. NO FEAR!
Even though the 49 will have some body work done over the winter I figured it would be a good canvas for him to practice on.
