The thread may cause too much division between others in the club and on the forum. We all have a common interest with cars, but on other subjects we may not agree.

Everybody is entitled to my opinion thats for sure Very Happy . But I was taught at a young age it's better to keep your mouth shut and be thought stupid than open it and remove all doubt.. ..(My opinion, and mine only not endorsed, or supported by other member's, other than myself.)I personally don't see why we need to bring religion, politics, or racial commements into the mix. My .02 if it makes me thin skinned, a pussy, a jackass or makes you think more of yourself, makes you a tough guy or what ever you may think then so be it. I have nothing to hide, and if someone wants to know my opinion ask me face to face and I will tell you my views, instead of hiding behind a faceless sign in name, where nobody knows who I am, where other's around the world may read, and get the wrong idea about me or others I am associated with. Alot of stuff can be taken out of context when typed into a thread(trust me I have been on both end's).So it makes not difference to me if it stays or not, as Big Dog said it is a free country, to say and do as you please. So in my opinion I think this is a poor excuse to use the forum to stir up shit and create controversy, because its been a little slow due to it being summer. I guess it worked! Good Job! "IF MY OPINION MAKES YOU MAD, PISSED AT ME, REMEMBER ITS MY OPINION" And you can look the other way, delete it, think I'm a pussy, print it out and piss on it I don't care, VIVA LA HOT ROD!Like a Star @ heaven

I'd hit the quote button but that's too much to reprint. A small amount of thought went into all that by LRS30 and of all people to agree with .... I agree.

Where i come from my ancestors would be spinning in their graves with the thought of the crap this country is in. People wake up before its too late!!! So go to your church, vote for who you like and love whatever car you car to own and ill do the same this is my last post on this subject before i piss someone off. Sad

Re: should we keep this thread?

Post by RebStew on June 12th 2008, 9:34 pm

I posted this thread for two reasons.
One: The forum WAS slow and I thought some talk about something other than cars may be in order. It wasn't to cause trouble and start a gang fight or anything. I look at the club as being almost a second family. I have invited everyone into my house as others in the club have done and treated everyone like they were kin folk. I figured that we could have an intelligent conversation about anything on the forum just as we do in person. It was never put on there to get a raise and to tick anyone off. The replies such as I may not have anything else to say here and why we need to bring religion, politics, or racial commements into the mix is an over kill to me. If you don't want to talk on here any longer then don't and there was never anything said about race or racial comments. I wouldn't stand for anyone running their chops about someone elses race on the forum. I just thought we were all adult enough to be able to talk about anything without the other side getting ticked off.
second: I left a forum about a month ago because someone ask something on religion. There were a few that posted about his question, me being one and the rest of the pages were people ragging on the guy. If they didn't want to be involved with his topic then why open it and read it in the first place. The MOD ended up shutting the thread down because of everyone running their mouth. Pretty much what has happened here. I don't expect any of you to understand this but I felt bad that someone couldn't speak freely without getting ripped by everyone and the MOD shutting down his post. I find it funny that I and other I know have to watch TV shows with their kids so I they know what they are watching, if dirty stuff or things kids shouldn't be seeing comes up, the tv goes off. I can sit here at my computer and type this and a pop up of porn can come up while I'm typing with girls giving BJ's and no one care but if you say something about religion or the way the country is run then you guys get offended. I left that forum that shut the post down and PM'ed some guys I spoke to one there and said you can come to the Scroungers Forum and be able to speak your mind about anything you wish to without getting jumped on. A few guys followed and some of you have been talking to them on this forum BUT I guess I was wrong.
I didn't put the thread on here for religion, politcs or any one thing. it was just on here in case someone wanted to say soming. Even if it was to simply say that running disk brake on a 30's rod is not traditional. I feel that no one is going to feel the same way about everything that the other does. The difference in caveman and some of the rest of us is that we can speak about differences without taking a club to the other person.
I was saved and become a christian after I joined the club years ago. I don't push my beliefs on anyone and have never ask anyone on here to go to church or try to preach to them. I do however still thrive to educate myself. I'm curious about what other people believe and how it all work. I also believe in the right to debate about how our country is ran and other things that may fill me in on something I'm missing.
With all that said let me say that this is my own opinion and that it has nothing to do with club politics or anything else pertaining to the club. It's just the way I feel personally. So if I offended you then pick up your stick, stop down and hit me with it if it makes you feel better.
I will give everyone a chance to reply to this if you feel the need and Mondy we can lock it down since that is the way the club is leaning. To say that I'm disappointed is an understatement.

I'm not a politican by any means. But my Christianity means EVERYTHING to me! I got saved at age 9 in the Baptist church. Backslide for awhile during my teenage years. But 8 years ago I came back to the Lord and got saved. This time in a Pentecostal church. I've read on the forum about others asking for prayer. That had nothing to do with cars. That was not a problem then. Why should it be a problem now? But there is alot of power in prayer! Have you tried it lately...

Anyway, I don't know alot about cars. I try to learn, but most of it don't sink in. So this can be a chance for anyone to talk about anything. If you don't agree with it, don't click on it. I can't wait to see how this turns out.

I don't see why this would have to turn in to an absolute bashing forum because we added a SEPARATE section to debate contraversal topics. I belong to another forum, http://www.thegsresources.com/_forum/index.php, where everybody has originally come there for help with there Suzuki GS bikes. But they have added an off topic discussion area where people can talk about pretty much anything. What is really cool as that you will see two or more have a very intense discussion on politics and at the same time the same people will be helping each other with problems with there bikes. Its pretty impressive that all the member police each other and mostly behave. So I don't see why you can't have a site that people come to because there in to one thing( hot rods) and when they have different ideas on another (politics)that they can't talk about them both on one website.

I know me personally that I don't know what to think about religion. I believe that there is something bigger out there but I have a hard time beliving in any organized religion.
“That journey to Rouen was a terrible embarrassment to Jesse and me, for on the long straights across France, that great bulbous Oldsmobile coupe with the trailer and racing car on the back sat behind us no matter what we did. We both rowed our little Porsches along as hard as we could, and the Miller entourage just sat there in our mirrors. When we stopped, Ak removed his cigar and asked, ‘Your little cars okay?’”
