I think the 17's look good on the later model cars!

I like the Welds myself. The 17's look like a brother is driving it.

All the newer hi performance cars come with 17's and 18's and higher so I guess I'm use to the bigger rims. Most people use 17" Americans on their 55 and 57 Chevys and their late 60's Camaros. I know that's probably not how you guys do it but that's how most others roll. A lot of the really slick cars run even larger on the rear. It won't be long and you might have trouble getting 15" tires. I skinned off the tread on a tire last week and had to order 14" tires in the size I wanted.

Depends on choice! Between 1965-1971, I ran with Craegers on all my cars. Back then, we had only a limited selection to the types of wheels you could get. Wheel sizes, I ran with 50's on the rear with deep dish and 60's on the front with 15 inch Goodyear Tires. Although I did have a few cars that had Chrome Reverse wheels on them if I couldn't afford the Craegers. On my Z, I'm running with 18".

Bigger wheels look okay on some stuff but when you look at the Monte, just like Butch said it took the hot rod right out of it. It went from looking like a fast hot rod to something a teenage kid would do.
Doug I agree in a way. Now if they where 20X13 and the Monte was mini tubbed and sitting low then it would have that ???Foose look. But really I think all the muscle cars guys will always have 15" and the big wheel stuff is just a fad on the 60's and 70's cars. I don't think that's how most others roll. Would you put those on your Falcon? It wouldn't look right.

the cool thing is the 15s and the 17s are the same size height but a hair wider about a 10inch foot print on the back, front is the same

If I had the money, I'd put the new polished Cragars that look like the old SS wheels on the Falcon. I'd put 18" in the rear and 17" in the front and then lower it down as much as possible. Either that or the grey five spoke Americans with the pollished rim in 18's and 17's. I used to think the big wheels didn't look right but some of the new wheels that are really cool are only available in 17" and larger. I think you'll find it's not a fad, they've been arounnd too long to be a passing fancy. A ton of people have the Weld wheels, I personally would want something different. Maybe not the exact wheel in the pics but not the weld wheels either.
Of course, if I had the money, I'd also put a 347 stroker and a 5 spd in it to get rid of that smoking 6 cylinder. It's embarassing to set in traffic with that old six puffing like a 3 pack a day smoker.

Re: which wheels 15\'inch welds or 17\' inch cragar
stewart and myself was just talking about different wheels. i'm undecided which wheels i want to run on the cutlass, i have 4 options,
1. the 14x7 american racing wheels that are on it.
2. org. stock rallys with trim rings
3. org. chrome cutlass rally's from a 70's cutlass
4. or buy a set of welds like EVERYONE ELSE HAS...
