Steve, you can use any passenger car or light truck spindles from '37-'48. '37-'41 spindles are the "roundback" style which are the most desirable and consequently the most expensive. You can almost buy a new repop set for what worn-out originals are bringing. '42-'48 spindles are the "squareback" style - not quite as aesthetically pleasing but work every bit as good and get the job done a little cheaper. Whatever style you wind up with make sure you get the corresponding kingpin kit, as they are different lengths. Another option is the '48-'52 F-1 spindle. They will also work on the early axles, but you must use the F-1 brakes with them. Not neccesarily a bad thing, because they are self adjusting and a little more modern in design. F-1 spindles are the only spindles that will work on the early Ford axles however, the F-100 starting in '53 has a different kingpin inclination and will not work. Confused yet? Haha. Anyhow, there are a few options for you. If you need anything you got my number...

What axle are you running? I may have a suicide style 4" drop plain steel tube axle that accepts 49-54 Chev spindles and brakes sitting in my garage somewhere....Brakes for it are way cheaper and eaiser to come by, just a thought..Or I could keep it and put it under the 54 hhhmmmmmmmmm... Anybody know where there's a hi-rev'n 327 at????

Thanks for the info Benny. That did shed some light on the subject for me. May be better to find some F1 stuff around here. You can still find that stuff from time to time.

If everything goes right I'm picking up a model A axle today from an old hot rod. It's not dropped but someone drilled some holes in it sometime in the past. I have the spindles and brakes off a 51 Chevy that are in great shape. I was going to run them but I don't like the looks of a round tube compared to the I beam. They are okay but I just prefer the I. If I can't come up with this model A axle I want, I may get one of the round tube kits from Speedway. Do you want to sell the round tube you have? if so shoot me a PM
