Re: Desoto
Here are the pics from the work session and figuring out if the motor was even going to fit. Oh... and it did, better than anyone thought it was when we were looking at it on the ground.

Re: Desoto
So, per Steve and Butch's help and direction, there was a list of things for me to accomplish before the next work session to actually make the motor mounts and drop this motor in for good.
(Accomplished)
Take out the heater box
Take out the fan
Take out any old linkage to the old trans
Flatten out the 1inch flange that was on the fire wall running through the trans tunnel
(Remaining to be done)
Get the two steel plates for the motor mounts
Some small angle iron pieces
Remove mechanical fuel pump and make block off plate
Have the studs that are frozen into the exhaust manifolds removed
So here is what I have accomplished so far:

Had some aluminum flashing sitting around and some of that Home Depot "dyna mat" so I made some panels to cover the holes for now. Nothing fancy but they work.

Re: Desoto
I'm ready to drop the motor in. It looks like the next couple weekends are consumed with different events. I know it's Labor Day weekend, but how does Saturday the 4th look for everyone?
Steve... I know we talked about possibly needing two sessions. One to put the motor in to make the patterns for the motor mounts and then another to actually install the motor.
Think on this as to how we can do it all in one session. It has been so long since the last session, I fear that by the time we get around to a 3rd one that I won't be till next spring. I'd really like to get the motor in this fall.

Re: Desoto
Also, I could really use everyone's eyes on my car. I had someone walk by and ask if that old car was mine out back. I told them yes and the lady proceeded to ask me if there was anything wrong with the car because she knows someone who really wants to buy it. I know the DeSoto wouldn't be easy to hide as it would stick out, but that wouldn't stop some people around here.
After having someone break into my house last year I am much more cautious. Having some random woman asking about my car puts me on alert.
So can if anyone can spare a glance every once in a while, while passing by, that would be much appreciated!
