Nostalgia Nationals from Muncie Dragway

Post by FalconEddie1964 on May 31st 2009, 12:03 pm

Madonna and I went over to Muncie to play with the Road Rockets. It was a really good time. We were only supoosed to be there Saturday but we left home Friday evening and thanks to the weather (rain) we just got back this evening (Sunday).
I didn't get to use the camera much since Madonna has become the photographer for the Nostalgia Super Stock Association when she can make the events. The only pictures I got to take were when she was helping with the race car

or helping cook. We camped with about a dozen race teams so the meals got a little huge.

It seemed like the Road Rockets had Falcons coming out of the woodwork. I talked to Tom Culberson and he said he's been building Gasser cars since the early 60's.

Some of the Rocket's cars were flag started just like in the 50's. The flagman (woman) was the Rockets' Naomi and she looked pretty cool out on the line.

they had a real mix of race cars. How about a blown and injected Chevy van

How about a 57 wagon

Another part of the show was all the show cars entered.

a pretty slick tow vehicle

And of course Fred. Seems like Madonna and I see him all over. I think he really puts some miles on that old Ford.

Here's one for the Dog..............

I thought this made a really slick rig. It's a camper somewhat like the one Jeff has.

The Road Rockets had a rather interesting bicycle

They also ran the Jr Dragsters

This really sweet Escort was running in some divison, I'm not sure where he was classed but he kept making rounds.

Yet another part of the program was the Supercharged Outlaws.............

And this car was completely distroyed this morning in the first round as he hit the gaurd rail taking out four sections of Armco and then barrel rolled more times than I could count. It was a well constructed car because there was nothing left but a driver with a sore ankle and a ride to the local hospital for some x-rays. It was one of the most violent crashes I've seen in years.

I hung for awhile with some of the Pyromanics from Muncie

The real reason we went was to spend time with friends and the Nostalgia Super Stockers..........

I'm glad everybody had a good time on the Rt 32 cruise, we sure had a ball this weekend. See our smiling faces?

No the Hemi broke on the third lap Saturday afternoon. They wanted to do it under the lights Saturday nite. Next time. Possibly either in Norwalk or down in Bowling Green.
