It's funny. I've never been afraid to cut a car up. Chopping tops, 4 door to 2 door conversions, Smoothing door handle, firewalls or whatever. I love to fab metal and make it do stuff it doesn't want to do. But it's a little scary to chop on the Bird.

You don't have to chop on the bird. Why if you take the handles off and the lenses out all you need is bondo. It might take you a gallon or two to fill the holes... but then if you want to put it back you can. Just chip it away and reinstall the door handle. I've heard that's how all the "pros" do mods to their cars. Laughing

Steve, with the right wheel offset, a 10" tire will fit won't it?
Handles, schmandels, my question is: Windshield wipers, YES or NO? lol!

Nothing really fancy here, just a quick cover up to get an idea.
I really like the look of it with the front marker lights gone.

Offset if 4.5 and with the tire side wall swell I only have 1/2 clearence to the leaf spring. They are making a offset spring hanger kit but you have to trim 1/4 of your frame all the way from the front perch to the rear shackle. I'm not wanting to get into that just for a few more inches. If I go that route I will mini tub it to sit a 13'"wide foot print tire within the wheel wells.
I'm thing about going with a set of 18X9.5's for the back with a 4.5" backspace with Nitto 555 295-45-18. Those are still a little too wide and if the car ever dipped the wheel well lip past the top of the tire they may rub.
No winshield wipers. I run with Rin X .ol

That wasn't aimed at you Butch. I agree the Nova looks cleaner w/o the wipers. Just seems like the first rule of hotrodding is no windshield wipers. I never saw anything Boyd Coddington built on that TV show that had wipers. With me, being as everything I have is for general purpose daily driving, I can't be w/o wipers. If it's mostly for appearance and effect and only driven for limited pleasure use, it makes perfect sense.

Body work is slow going. I'm not in any rush. It may not see sun light untill next spring. I order the front rims and I may yank the motor out so I can detail and do some work on the firewall. Ol' bird looks funny with the flares and spoiler gone. Just stripped off for body work.

The 1/4 mile stuff will all go. It will be set up for running on the open road. I want to take a long trip in it soon so I'm setting it up to be able to to. A mix of muscle, sports car and pro touring all wrapped up in one package.
