47 ford coupe

Post by junkyard junky on November 22nd 2007, 2:24 pm

This is my 47 ford coupe that I bought from a man in Defiance, OH. The guy took the car completely apart. I'm missing some parts like the outside trim.. I've put the doors and trunk back on. I'm tring to dig around and find some bolts that will hold the front end on. I've started to collect parts for the car. I plan on using an olds 324. Use the gears from the 53 olds trans that I got from Jeff. I buddy of mine has a 38 buick transmission. What I'm going to do is pull the gears out of the 38 buick and put the olds gears in. I've seen this done before. This converts the closed drive buick trans to open drive. Later on I would like to put a quickchange in the car. I plan on doing body modifications in 08. I want to clean the dash up and get rid of all the plastic and big openings that a 47 has like the clock and speedo openings. So I'm using a 41 ford dash. A 39 cadillac speedo will fitted into the dash.

A fuzzy pic of the olds engine

Well I found another engine that is complete. It does turn over but hasn't been ran in 5 years due to the previous owner's health. 371 with 3x2 set up. Three different carbs. 1950 three speed manual olds open drive trans with all the linkage.

Started back on the old coupe. I've decided right now that I'm going to run the stock transmission, and rear end. Using a sbc for right now since it runs and setting 15 feet from the car. Plan on lowering the front and rear of the car. Three choices for speedometers, two 38-41 cadillacs and a nash. Can't decide on which right now. I need to buy a bellhousing adapter to match the sbc to the stock ford trans.

I'd love to have that old Rocket motor if all I did was clean it up and keep it on the stand. Cool
