Carrier Bearing help??

Post by RebStew on January 20th 2010, 12:47 pm

I know this is really lame to ask because I should know but my brain is just not working. I may be going to pick up a car this weekend with a carrier bearing. I have to use the tow dolly so the back wheels will be turning. The rear drive shaft is still in the car so it will turn when I drag it. So if I take the driveshaft loose off the rearend will the driveshaft slip out or am I going to have to take the carrier bearing loose too. I've done this ten times if I've done it once but I just can't friggin' remember how it goes together.

If its like the same set up as my dad's 92 chevy truck, you can take it loose at the rear end and leave the rest. The truck has a two piece drive shaft. There was enough slack to push it forward a hair. We might be on different pages.
