One man hood installation
Sometime the easiest things can make life so much better. Most of us have tried to put our hoods on our cars our selves or have to wait for a buddy or a family member to come home to help get it on. I'm not sure about everyone else but I like doing stuff myself. If I have to wait on someone to help me it just drives me nuts. One of those things is getting a car hood on and off.
Last Friday I was at a cruise in and me and this guy got to talking. He was showing me his hinges. He bought the car and they were already on it so it wasn't his idea either. I wish I could take credit for it but no such luck either. Here the trick.
Take the top hinge bolt hole and cut it up. Out through the metal. Now it has a notch and not just a hole.
Now that this is done you can put the two top bolts in the hood about 3/4 of the way in.
Leave the other two bolt on the cowl or on the fender in easy reach.
Put the front of the front of the hood at your belt line and pick it up and sit the back on the hinges.
Raise it up and slide the two top bolts you already have in the hood down into the notches you cut. You can then slide around holding the hood up with one hand and threading in the bottom bolts on both side.
Adjust and you are done.
