$36K and you still can't be a Chevy

Post by RebStew on May 14th 2010, 5:04 am

I seen this on the F body site and thought you guys would get a kick out of it. I think it's funny the Stang guys tells the video car to try to keep up. The Mustang may have had a better chance of running the Trail Blazer.

When I first bought my Z, the same happened to me, I beat a 2009 5.0 Mustang by a fender starting from a dead start. Although, if he knew what he was doing, he should have blew my doors off. I got him off the line and that little difference is why he lost. I know that the Scroungers CC don't race on the street and I haven't raced since becoming a Prospect. Basically, I got tired of the same guy harassing me everyday to race him. I put him in his place, although he still asks for a rematch. I just wave him off.

Looks like they could both use some driving skill. Going from a roll is lame! It takes real skill to launch a car.

Anyway just remember there is always somebody faster, just not in this YouTube clip! HA!HA!

Something is up. Let's say that Camaro is a 2002, those are rated at 325 ponies. The new 5.0's are supposed to have a little over 400 ponies. Number one, you never and I mean NEVER start from a roll. Number two, never and I mean NEVER start from a roll if you are both manual shifts! The only benefit to going at a roll is if it were an automatic and then that's questionable. And even if that guy didn't know how to drive his new 5.0, he still should have kept a nice lead on him. Which leads me to think that the guy doesn't know how to drive and/or that Camaro had a little more than just stock. And there is so much more to factor in but lets face it, that Stang should have taken that Camaro with the right driver and if they were both stock. That being said, I hold my head in shame! Somebody go steal that 5.0 from that fool and show him how to really run it! I'm done!

I have seen for year where people think a car should run better than it does. Most HP numbers from the factory are not correct and there other things to think about. You can have a 800 HP car but if it's not set up to get the power to the ground then those 800 ponies are not going to help you at all. To me the Camaro sounds stock. Maybe it's not. Everyone talked about those Ram Air Trans Am's that they had out a few years back. I busted one of those on the open road coming down I-275 around 3 am. What was so cool about it is I had a built 355 out of my Bird shoved down into a 67 Olds convertable that was pretty rough. It was a runner other than the 2 something gear. That may have been that fastest I've ever been in a car. We started out a 70 MPH. I jumped off sharp about a half car and then slowly just started pulling away. I often wonder what the guy in the T/A thought about getting smokes by a flat white pile of crap convertable. I love sleepers. I have to admit that is the only time I have scared myself in a car. At the hi end of the run the car felt like I was just along for the ride and not to drive..
