Where to get Lexan??

Post by RebStew on July 8th 2010, 5:35 pm

I need a piece of Lexan for a windshield in the 33. Anyone know where you can buy it locally? Lowes has some but it's really thin and pretty costly.

Peidmont Plastics....in Blue Ash is a good place
http://www.piedmontplastics.com/

Used to be GE Polymer shapes

Real Lexan is a GE brand, and costs $$$$
get scratch resistant Poly-Carbonate.....I when I worked at Jet Machine and Able Tool, I'd buy tens of thousands dollars worth of that stuff a year..

I bought a sheet of polycarbonate at Queen City Polymers years ago. 513-779-0990. They are in West Chester, not too far from the Bulk Mail Center in Sharonville. Just another option for you.

I just done some research on it and I figured out something that might work. I didn't read about this so I don't know if it will work or not. I'm wanting to make the windshield and side windows for my Camaro lexan but I want to do it myself, like everything else. Poly Carbonate is supposed to be able to bend easily so if I take the windshield out of my car and clamp the poly carbonate to it and then cut it to shape and finally heat it up with a heat gun to get the shape to stick. That would make a exact replica of the original windshield. Possibly spray Pam down between the two to keep them from sticking. How does that sound to someone?
