I have been fighting with myself on the setup in the car. I don't like it. The traction devices are almost a foot past the front spring eye and it's solid welded on the rearend. This is how they use to do all of them untill they found out that it works better for your traction devices to pivot at the same place. Ladder bars went too far forward, such as these do and cheap slapper bars do not go all the way to the front spring eye. The fix for the ladder set up was to use floaters on the rearend.

The floaters help solve the mounting points problem but I'm not wanting to spend that kind of money on a car that may never run faster than high 11 if it's even lucky enough to do that. Changing this set up that has been on this car for a few decades had me wondering. I like the idea of a vintage (if you will) set up race car, but is it worth it now? While fighting with options the welds broke, that was good enough for me. Their time has came and gone.

I made my own slapper bars for the 'bird about 15 or so years ago. They work great. I will be fabbing up some for the Mustang sooner or later. If anyone has some mild 2x3 square tubing I can buy let me know. I will need about 4 foot

Glad to see the 'stang made it into the car show. Cool Hopefully the suspension repair goes well. BTW did you get ALL of the lights working (headlights, interior, etc.)?

We have everything working other than one headlight. It's an easy fix though. When it comes time to take it off the track for good I have a painless wiring set up for it.

Lee how are you adjusting to moving back? For the ones that don't know Lee, he just came back from Alaska not too long ago and will be taking over as head guy, El Presidente for the F Body Club.

I'm hangin' in as best as I can, Steve. Thanks for asking. I'm here in Corinth for a couple more weeks helping my mother-in-law with some stuff. Her husband, Gary, passed away suddenly five days after we got back adn it's been nuts ever since. Been a tough time for us but I'm doing the best I can to keep my family in good spirits and help out with things. Looks like I'll be heading outside of St. Louis next month to (finally!) pick up my '76 TA. A good friend is covering the costs as I had to spend the couple hundred bucks I had set aside to pick it up due to some issues with the trip back to KY. Sad So, it is what it is. Was really good to get to meet up last month and I hope to make it out to your guy's events/gatherings once I got a buck in my pocket.

That 70 Firebird that your relation got. I seen the door panels had been spray painted. I have a set of lower black panels that fit that. He can have them if he wants them. They are just laying around here and I'll never use them.

He's going to go a different route with the interior but tell you what I could REALLY use a lower set for my '76, Steve. I'd be more than happy to take 'em off your hands. Very Happy

As for the '70 Firebird yeah our uncle is thrilled to get it. He's looking for a '70-'75 Formula hood for it (he had a '72 Formula back in the day). I'm just glad to see that he's saving another F-Body. Cool

They are yours Lee. I may swing by Friday night if you will be there. As for the hood I have one but it's REALLY ROUGH. It will need to be stripped to the gel coat and it also has a round 12'? hole for a breather toi fit through. He can have that if he wants it. I was going to bust it up and get rid of it. It would take alot of work to make it nice but you can't find them anymore.

Sounds good, Steve! Our uncle was THRILLED with the hood and he will gladly take it. I'll get with you on Friday at McD's and we'll figure out a time for me to swing by and pick it up. Or if you want I'll be in the GMC and can leave a bit early and just get Friday night. lemme know what works.

Again, thanks a BIG BUNCH on these items (and the tranny when I get a buck). cheers cheers cheers

Very Grateful,

Lee
