Drifting was invented in Japan? BS

Post by RebStew on August 24th 2010, 7:26 pm

I know that it is now on the extream side but I was telling one of the kids that we power slid around corners like that when I was a teenager. The guys in the county called it ridge running. Smoking the tired coming out of turns was some what normal back then. Big cars didn't handle and you had to power slide around deep corners to keep your speed up other wise you hit the brakes and then gassed it to speed up again. Why they say drifting was invented in Japan I'll never know. Drifting is taking a 74 New Yorker with a 440 and stretching it across both lanes of Licking Pike and coming out of a corner while smoking the back hides. Sideways the cars bumpers would reach across the road. Oh the good ol' days Laughing
I seen the on the RD forum and it brought back memories. lol

This was worse. The guy talking had me cracking up. They told it like it was and didn't hold back.

These are great Steve! There had to be some boring times to be a car tester during the 70's and early 80's.
