Amy's Grandpa

Post by RebStew on August 28th 2010, 3:20 pm

Amy got some bad news today while we was at the car show. I think they down played it a little untill she got home. Her grandpa was on a Bobcat and rolled it over out on the farm. Not sure if he wasn't seat belted or what but it looks like he hit his head hard enough that they think he fractured his neck. At first they acted like everthing was cool but after we got out of the show we found out that he can't move his legs. They are doing testing on him now and trying to figure out what's going on. Amy went to get her sister and is on her way to the hospital now. I hope everything goes okay. I love ya babe. Sad

Just got back from UC. Grandpa rolled the Bobcat over on him. He was upside down for awhile. He was having trouble breathing so he tore his shirt off. His brother didn't hear the Bobcat so he came running. He helped grandpa out of the seat belt so he could slide out. They trasported grandpa up the hill on the gator and off to the hospital they went. They went to Meadowview in Maysville. They wanted to trasport him to Lexington. Grandpa said no. So off to UC he went. He has 3 fractured vertabre. Surgury is planned for tomorrow some time not sure when or exactly what they are going to do. He said he has 7 stiches.. There is alot more than 7 staples in his head. The right side of his head is hurt pretty bad and his ear is very bruised. I told him he's grounded from the tractor and Bobcat. This makes 2 times he's been hurt on it. Just a few months back he fell taking care of the cows. That ended in a broken nose, black eye, and broken ribs.He said he's going to sell his cows but keep 2 calves. They are his babies. Just like your hot rods.. He can feel his legs and everything else. He hates the neck brace he has to wear. Grandpa said the scrapes and bruises will go away. It's the bones that are hurting. Vicki and I talked him into taking some pain meds. Hopefully he'll get a good night sleep. Thanks everyone for all your prayers. God will bless you for everyone said. Grandma is doing as good as she can. I love you too Steve!

When her family called and said he couldn't move his legs I figured that was it. He's had and Angel on his shoulder for many years and I guess this time was no different. When Amy told me his legs were fine it was a relief. He a tough old bird that as been through alot. I just hope he recovers quick and they don't find anything else going on. I don't have much faith in these hospitals now a days. He's needs to start taking it easy and stop playing around on his toys so much.

Or you need to start putting in a 5 point racing harness with a full roll cage in everything.

Thanks guys!! He's always been a hard working man. I guess it's hard to stop. If it wasn't for his brother being close he wouldn't have made it.. No word yet.. I do know I won't go over to UC late at night anymore.. That was scary..
