The Ducktail Run, Gas City, Indiana

Post by Mr. Fabulous on August 31st 2010, 5:00 am

The Ducktail Run in Gas City is always a good time, at least for the last 25 years or so that I've been going. There's something going on all the time, huge swap meet, and a large number of new product vendors. That's not to mention all the deep fried food you can imagine. It's also the weekend of the Track Championship at Gas City Speedway where they'll be kicking some dirt on Friday nite. I know that some thing this is a park and set event but it's far from that or maybe it is what you make it. It's probably the number two event we attend all year. Last year there were over 3000 cars in and out of the park. It's coupled with the well known James Dean Run in nearby Fairmont, Ind. Probably 75% of the participants cruise from one event to the other and back and forth, etc, etc...........
The deep fried pickles are great!

Just wondered if I'd see anybody from here next weekend. Been thinking of running to Faimont on Friday to see a little of the James Dean Run and check the Flamethrowers out. Last weekend was the first time in over twenty years I've attended a decent sized event in a car that wouldn't light a fire. Hopefully this weekend will be the end of that crap. The old white Ford probably burns too much oil to put flamethrowers on it. I don't think I could get all that oil to light.
