The Judge GTO

Post by Z-YOU on September 7th 2010, 2:32 am

Steve & I were talking about it because there was a Judge at Cruising the Judy. I remembered that the Judge only came with a 3-speed manual transmission. It was only made from 1969-1971 with very few made in 1971. Looks like I may have been wrong. The 3-speed manual was the standard tranny, but it 's clear the 4-speed was an option. I don't think an auto was. I also didn't realize the Judge was available in colors other than orange, but it was. Guess I learned something.

Not sure of the year but I think it was 69. I read that Pontiac snuck in with a pull lever on the dash to open the exhaust. As far as I know I don't think any other factory car had that at any time. Pontiac made a commercial with the car driving through a car hop and pulling the lever to pop open the pipes. The rumble was loud. It had everyone in the car hop looking. GM, as they often did seen the commercial and pulled the plug on the idea. They only sold a hand full with the exhaust cut outs. Not sure if any of them would be on the road now but what an option.
