Today is Veterans Day

Post by RebStew on November 11th 2010, 4:16 am

Without the sacrifices some made we wouldn't have the freedom that we have now. We live in a great country and many have helped with that and many have died to give us what we know as a way of life. To say I have a huge admiration for our Veterans is an understatement.
While everyone is running around today and getting t'ed off because of the traffic on the way to Walmarts or where ever is not moving fast enough for you. Or the radio station isn't playing the right songs, it would not be possible to even have these options in life if it wasn't for our men and women who served.

Thank you Steve. It is greatly appreciated, and I extend the same sentiment to all my other fellow veterans. Enjoy your day!

Someone sent this to me in an email. I thought it was pretty good.
They did their share, now let us not forget to do ours. Thank our Soldiers and Veterans today.

They Did Their Share

On Veteran’s Day we honor
Soldiers who protect our nation.
For their service as our warriors,
They deserve our admiration.

Some of them were drafted;
Some were volunteers;
For some it was just yesterday;
For some it’s been many years;

In the jungle or the desert,
On land or on the sea,
They did whatever was assigned
To produce a victory.

Some came back; some didn’t.
They defended us everywhere.
Some saw combat; some rode a desk;
All of them did their share.

No matter what the duty,
For low pay and little glory,
These soldiers gave up normal lives,
For duties mundane and gory.

Let every veteran be honored;
Don’t let politics get in the way.
Without them, freedom would have died;
What they did, we can’t repay.

We owe so much to them,
Who kept us safe from terror,
So when we see a uniform,
Let’s say "thank you" to every wearer.
