51st Annual Cavalcade of Customs

Post by RebStew on December 6th 2010, 11:47 pm

51st Annual Cavalcade of Customs
January 7-9, 2011
Seems like some of us knit pick at this show every year and say we are not going back. I have figured out why we go. It's friggin' too cold to do anything outside and we are bored. I'll be hitting the show again this years if anyone wants to go.

I am seriously considering entering Roller Coaster and Lil' Roller Coaster into this event this if I can locate an enclosed trailer to use for the weekend. I have wanted to have a vehicle in this event since I was a small child, but I don't see the sense in exposing a show vehicle to the chemicals that they apply to the roads today for an event that is more spectator friendly than participant friendly.

I will be there! Last year was the first time in a long time that I did'nt make it, shoulder surgery.. There was a truck and 2 bikes I had a hand in there last year. I think we are using my 64 in a display this year.. We usually have atleast 1 thing on the floor, either a bike, truck, vette, or some shit. If you want a sneak peak, just go down SET-UP day before the show opens and walk on in thru the garage, if anbody says anything just tell them your helping a buddy set-up, works like a charm, but you did'nt hear that from me....

Haven't been to one for many years. Don't plan on ever going to one again. I have no interest in cars that are for display purposes only.

It really has changed alot in past 10 years, with the huge display that Shaw organizes it really is great for the kids, cause they can get up close and personal with the hot rods and vintage race cars he brings in, hell year before last my back and arms was killing me lifting kids on and off of my old sporty, but it was great for the kids..That and seeing Marty "BREADMANS" face when I had about 6 kids sitting in his truck bouncing them up and down with the airbags... That was worth it in its self....lol

I recieved an e-mail from Greg McDaniel early this morning requesting me to call him sometime this morning. If he can guarantee me a spot downstairs in the "main show area" I am seriously considering entering Roller Coaster and Lil' Roller Coaster into this event with or without locating an enclosed trailer.

I think it's a cool idea. I think Scottie will be down stairs too instead of the normal second floor.

Not much of a choice at this point. All it is going to cost me is paying someone to haul it over there and a vacation day.

congrats! look me up, I will be over in survivor alley area, I will have my 64 F-100 Push Truck, it won't be how I want it yet but close. The 31 may or may not be there as a roller/work in progress, if they need fillers, and I will have a DRAG HD Sporty there too. We will be real busy over the next few weeks.....

I feel your pain, Roller Coaster is buried in the back of the garage behind the '47.
