Re: 1948 Austin Dorset 2-door
My old T was a Speedway body, there decent aswell, hell when it comes to glass, once someone else has finished it who cares what brand it is.. I've never heard of somone saying all man I would never buy that finished car because it has a speedway body, but if it had a gibbons I would be all over it.. GLASS is GLASS and STEEL well STEEL IS REAL
.. Either way you go they are both neat cars. You seem to be about flipping them so if you think that the T is worth more than the Austion and you could flip it and make more money, well there is your answer.. If you really want a ODD but different style non-cookie cutter keep the AUSTIN...

Re: 1948 Austin Dorset 2-door
I wouldn't go as far to say'glass is glass. Some companies are a TON better with their work. I have bought glass hoods that fit as good as steel. then I have bought some hood that didn't fit, thin gel coat, too thin of matting and nothing lined up. Totle garbage. I have never messed with anything other than fenders and hoods that were 'glass and have never used either Speedway or Gibbons stuff. But I have heard huge raves about the Gibbons bodies. Everything can be trimmed to fit or added to to make right but I wouldn't say they are the same. Glass or metal. My Firebird would take a small rock tossed at a fender without an issue. Amy's Toyota Yaris with the same rock would look like King Kong kicked it. 'glass would be the same. I'd bet that the Speedway stuff is a lot thinner and less fitting than Gibbons. But like I said it's just a guess. If the T is together and you like it I wouldn't care what it is anyways. Like the rest of us you should buy what you want.

Re: 1948 Austin Dorset 2-door
Usually its a fittment issue, and on a T body, there is no fit ment, no opening doors and such. Thats what I meant.. Yhea I bought a HARWOOD hood for my 66 Duece back in the day, and it was nice.. I used to run a fiberglass shop, so I have made lots of bits and pieces, and funded a chopper my making front and rear bumbers for 66-7 chevy II's way back when.. Gibbons makes good bodys, as does Wescott, But I hear ya, on quality.. Me personnally the Austin is cool, but nothing says HOT ROD like a roadster.....
