Out & About with Jen Dalton

Post by Roller Coaster on January 3rd 2011, 3:34 pm

Believe it or not, Jen Dalton and a videographer were in my garage filming the next segment of Out & About with Jen Dalton this morning. It is a promotional advertisement for the Cavalcade of Customs that will appear on Local12.com and possibly on Local 12 on Friday, January 7, 2011.

I am both honored and somewhat shocked that Local 12 has selected my vehicle such a prestigious award. It isn't everyday that you get an opportunity like this. I have a lot of people to thank for my good fortune.

I don't get why you where shocked. You are too modest! I was just telling someone a couple days ago that you had the nicest S10 around. The hard work shows bro!

From the April, 2008 issue of Mini Truckin'

By Mike Alexander
Back in 1994, Greg Johnson's great uncle and aunt bought him this '91 S-10, so he could save some money for college. Shortly after in '95, it was rolled over on the way home from his then-girlfriend's house, who is his wife now, and the truck was nearly totaled. The insurance company put it back together and Greg had it painted Hawaiian Orchid Metallic. Back then it was still factory, except for a set of '80s Firebird wheels. Later in '96, it rolled on the way home from his girlfriend's house, and was once again nearly totaled. "Not sure if the Kentucky roads are that bad or if I just sucked at driving!" This time around, the insurance would be left out of the loop, as Greg teamed up with his dad to put it back together using the "we will take two junk trucks and make a good truck" theory. It took a while, but the effort was worth the wait. This time around, it was painted Hawaiian Orchid Metallic with a Lund Fiberglass roll pan and a Lund Fiberglass moon visor with '78 Corvette aluminum wheels.

Greg cruised his S-10 safely until 1998, when it was part of an 18-car pileup and totaled on his way home from college in an ice storm. At this point, Greg could tear apart this truck with his eyes closed. So, he bought it back with a salvaged title and rebuilt it. After being in primer for three years, Greg teamed up with Jason Logan and they created the S-10 you see here. We hope there won't be any more roller-coaster crashes for this beauty! Good luck, Greg.

I may be modest, but I am still shocked that Local 12 has selected my vehicle! Believe it or not, Roller Coaster was built in basement and backyard garages by friends and family out of junkyard parts and pieces much like the Scroungers mentality. On second thought, honestly, I am not sure if it is modesty or humbleness. Greg Johnson typically receives the recognition and the reward, but there were quite a few friends and family that I always make an attempt to thank. As I told Local 12, “this vehicle was built by friends and family, with blood, sweat, and a lot of beer.” As a side note, Jen and the videographer both thought that was extremely funny, therefore, hopefully it will not end up editted out of the segment.

The only reason it was trailered to Cincinnati is because I am taking this show extremely seriously. I am doing my best to represent my car club, Local 12, my friends and family that assisted me with the build, and myself as best as possible. I spent four hours on my back with the truck up on jackstands detailing the undercarriage Sunday afternoon.

I throughly enjoy driving the truck. Unfortunately, a regular cab mini truck will not accommodate three occupants. Therefore, when you see out we are typically in the Stylemaster sedan.

I think you've "seriously" misinterpreted or read something into my post that isn't there.

Good luck.

I apologize for the misinterpretation, I have been on to many forums with "keyboard thugs".
