Masset Ferguson 165 breakdown

Post by junkyard junky on March 30th 2011, 12:09 pm

So the last couple of days, I've been working on the mf165 a couple of hours at a time. Tuesday I had to go to bowling green and buy a gantry crane to help me. Needed to replace both clutches.

Put blocks of wood on top of the front axle so that the engine wouldn't pivot when the engine is detacted from the trans.

In the last picture of the previous post, you can see the pto clutch disc. If you look at the ribbots, you can see that it was starting to twist and break off. Guess that what happens when you stall one out. Sad

Got the tractor back together yesterday. No fuel leaks and everything is working good.

That stuff looks like a bear to break down.

Its not bad. Just need the right stuff. I bought one of those gantry cranes from Harbor freight. Had to put it up by myself. Main thing is that you have a smooth and level hard surface. Nothing worse than trying to roll 4,500 pounds by yourself uphill.

Got on the tractor today and saw that the pto and hyraulic system wasn't working quite right. Made a few phone and come to find out that the pto clutch wasn't adjusted to the right specs from the place that i got it from. So guess what.... its coming back apart again. Just trying to decide if I want to do it or take it to the dealer.
