AFR 195 heads,Verses, Gm Vortec heads

I have a strong 408 SBC with vortec heads and an edelbrock performer,, a new 750 vac sec holley 1 3/4 headers ,, 1.52 roller rockers and a custom ground cam made for the 8.5:1 comp ratio,,,
if i up the compression to 9.5:1 and up the cam and ignition a little .....will the AFR 195 street heads work or should i stick with the vortecs,,

remember i want to run 95 octane unleaded pump gas

Th350 trans,, 3.08 possi diff,, 275X50X15 tyres

Depending on your cam selection, the 8.5:1 CR would be an EXCELLENT candidate for a blower! It sounds like you've built the engine for a blower already then a nice 6-71 or even a 256 might be just the ticket for an uber-torque powerhouse.
