The Scroungers CC have been invited! 11/18/09
KOI Paint Store in Newport is having another class to go over their new products. We went the last time and had a good time. Goodie bags, I'm still using the good smelling tape, pizza and pop all free. I talked to Chuck and he told me that the EPA came down hard on all the suppliers. So now they are changing the way stuff is made and how it works. After this years most product we use will be change per EPA regs. There are new ways to do things that work better with this new paint, epoxies, filler and more. Even if you are not into body work and paint this is a great class to sit in on and listen to what will be coming in for our cars. Times are changing and you have to change with them from time to time. I'll be there. Time, date and address is on flyer below. I will need to knwo you are coming so I can let Chuck know. So if you are coming please post it on here. Anyone on the forum is can come and hang out. It's not just for the club. But like I said let me know a number of who is coming so I can let Chuck know. Thanks.....

You can come in with us no problem. Just let me know for sure if you are coming when it gets a little closer if it's okay with mom
It's a small group of guys just hanging out and checking out all the new stuff. If anyone has any questions to ask about paint and body this will be the time to do it. Chuck Bowman is the son of Charlie Bowman that ran Bowman Paint Shop over in Covington and before I could drive they where on Monmouth in Newport. The Bowmans are where I bought my first Gal. of paint to paint a car and I ask alot of questions then. The knowledge of some of these guys will blow you out of the water.

I can't make it but if they have any info on paint/dying interior stuff, take notes. I think they mentioned "painting" interior parts at the last one but it has kinda slipped from the grey matter. I got a set of seats I'd like to change from tan to blue if possible.

Very interseting stuff tonight about what the EPA plans on doing. They are going to faze out paint as we know it and go with a water based system. This will happen very soon. One of the things I ask about was what about the old school way of painting. Candies and hi metal flake 60's style paint jobs. Will they work the same way as the old way? His reply was not what I wanted to hear. As of now they have no water based candy colors. They are working on trying to make them work but no luck so far. Big and small shops will have to fill out a paper letting the EPA know what they are doing and how they are doing it. No word on fines if paperwork is not turned in. Back yard body man or people that paint their own cars will be limited to TWO! cars a years. How they will keep track of this is unknown but the EPA has cracked down on everyone and starting next year we will all feel it.
