what engine should we run in the gasser?

okay here's the deal. we can get some differents engines for the gasser. I figured it may be less stressfull for everyone using the pole. this is just to see what everyone is leaning towards.
(1) Jeff has a running 460/c6, aftermarket dual point,driveshaft, radiator, 9" housing rear. $300.00
(2) Vickers has a friend that has a 460 no intake and trans $100.00 I think it was
(3) Vickers also can get a 440 mopar with trans $100.00 that has been in a RV that burned down. so the engine would have to be cleaned up and the plastic dug out of the dizzy.
(4) Vickers has a late model non HO roller motor he said we could have if we put it in the car. it need the intake and trans
(5) Ryan's bro has that chevy motor sitting on the stand. we may be able to use it to move the car around or may be able to buy it if the price was right.

we have like 4 months before we even need to worry about a motor in it. but the thing is we need to figure out what is going in it so we can do the mounts, make a set of headers and if we move the firewall back a little we need to know what engine we are going to use.
If you don't like my dinged and dented hot rod sitting next to yours, put yours back on it's trailer and leave!

I know I'm not a full member, but I think that a 350 chev would be the most reasonable on the club(opinion) very common, cheap, good platform and plentiful. If we go with a 460 Ford, it will be a money hog... Yes its big and powerful, but if we blow it what kinda outapocket are we looking at vs. a small block chev.. Just a thought, if we cut the firewall back for a 460 Ford and kill it, how hard will it be to find another??Chev. I have one in my garage, and could have another running engine for $150 200.Just curious thoughts?????

I voted for the 460 because it was running and all the stuff it came with. But after thinking it through, I feel the 350 would be a better choice. It's alot cheaper to work on. There are plenty of parts in each of your garages. All the go go goodies for the chevy are cheapier. If something goes wrong with the 460 the price to fix anything is expensive. I'm not sure how everyone else except Ryan feels, but that's just my opinion. Wink

i also voted for the 460. but after talking to everyone else and looking at prices of building a 460. it would be more econimical to build a sbc, and run it for the time being.
